On 13 November, the Curonian Spit History Museum hosted an opening of an exclusive exhibition “From the museum’s treasure troves” in which, for the first time, the public was presented with unique and rare signs of the past: cultural, artistic and historic assets amassed by the museums of Neringa over the past couple of years including writings of Liudvikas Rėza published in the early 19th century, dishware from the Herman Blode hotel, a picture painted by Ernst Mollenhauer at Nida in 1924, university related relics of Walter Hubatsch, a student at the Königsberg Albertina University and a celebrated German historian, and many other valuable assets. The mayor of Neringa Municipality Darius Jasaitis attended the event and paid his tribute, other participants included a historian of Klaipėda University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nijolė Strakauskaitė, the museum sponsor Gerardas Skrickis and other honourable guests. The Museums of Neringa expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone for the specials gifts that will constitute a major contribution to the stock of our museum. The treasures of the museum will be on display until 21 November.
