Vincenzo Cipriani (piano)
Tomas Mikalauskas (cello)
Vincenzo Cipriani is a composer, pianist, organist and teacher at the Conservatory of Music in Matera, Italy. He composes music mixing jazz with pop, funky or classical styles. He uses unusual instruments in his compositions (e.g. arrangements for viola and other strings) in order to achieve musical drama. Cipriani's new musical experiences are driven by his desire to find new sonic consonances.
The composer claims that modern music is close to the idea of "musical freedom". It is the same freedom that characterised music in the past, especially Baroque music. Both genres can be performed in a different way than the notes and at the same time feel free through one's own musical sense and interpretation.
In Italy, Cipriani's music is broadcast on the radio and played on some Italian and foreign television programmes. His compositions have been performed in the theatre and in productions with famous Italian actors such as Giancarlo Giannini, Alessandro Haber, Michele Mirabella, Silvia D'Amico.
Vincenzo Cipriani performs his music on the piano solo or in concert with a chamber string orchestra or the group Cipriani trio-viola & voice, among other ensembles.
During his career, Cipriani has performed in Egit, Turkey, Brazil, Norway, Belgium, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, San Salvador, France, Germany and other countries. He has given several concerts in Lithuania.
This time the concert programme will be performed together with Tomas Mikalauskas, a cellist from Klaipėda, who accumulates musical experience in a variety of styles and ensembles, as well as in his pedagogical practice.
