PALEASIS ENSEMBLE was formed in 2022 on the initiative of the internationally acclaimed charismatic piano virtuoso Alexander Paley (USA-France). "Not a one-day project, but an ensemble that rehearses regularly, performs and develops - this is an old dream of mine. I am very happy that this dream has been realised in Lithuania. I have gathered 11 professional musicians and like-minded people with the aim of playing well-known and rarely performed masterpieces of classical music on stage, as well as premieres in the making," says the virtuoso about the circumstances of the ensemble's creation.
The ensemble made its debut on 26 June 2022. The concert took place at the Kaunas State Philharmonic on June 26, 2018. "Paleasis actively performs all over Lithuania, and in the two years of its existence, the ensemble has been a guest of audiences in many of Lithuania's major cities and neighbouring towns. In March 2023, Paleasis made its first tour in the pianist's home country of Moldova, at the Chisinau Philharmonic, where the ensemble was highly praised by audiences and critics alike, who called the concert "undeniably magnificent and an unforgettable experience". Paleasis also received excellent reviews during their tour of France, at the Moulin d'Ande Festival, where their music was described as "not at festival level but at philharmonic level".
"Paleasis is distinguished by its unique in Lithuania line-up of professional musicians, which makes it possible to turn the music-making together into a laboratory of chamber music making, opening up a wide range of possibilities for learning about the repertoire and each other. The ensemble's unconventional vision and composition, consisting of the country's most accomplished performers of academic music, allows it to perform a wide range of chamber music. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by the great European classics as well as works by composers who are rarely performed on stage, but are no less important, such as Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Louis Spohr, Isaac Ignaz Moscheles, Alexander Zemlinsky, Conradin Kreutzer, and works by Lithuanian composers Balys Dvarionas, Stasys Vainiūnas, Jeronimas Kačinskas, Onutė Narbutaitė, and Loreta Narvilaitė.
